Welcome to the Sedgwick County Association of Cities (SCAC) web site. Established primarily to enhance communications between the 20 incorporated cities in Sedgwick County Kansas, we hope that not only our citizens but visitors as well will find the information contained here a valuable resource. SCAC seeks to improve the quality of life through effective government and to promote good government through education, training and leadership.
Sedgwick County, located in south central Kansas, is approximately 1,000 square miles in land and is home to the largest city in Kansas - Wichita. A unique blend of agricultural and manufacturing economies, the county's population density is 464 per square mile. A 29.1% increase over the past three decades puts Sedgwick County 's official population in 2004 at 463,802.
Founded at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers, Wichita, the Air Capital of the World, is the county seat for Sedgwick County and home for multiple major aircraft manufacturers. Additionally, the City is a regional center for business activities, healthcare, education and cultural affairs. As of 2003, the City had a population of 360,715.
Encompassing Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey and Sumner counties, the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had a 2003 population of over 582,000. Approximately 1 million people live within 100 miles of Wichita .
Nineteen smaller incorporated towns situated throughout Sedgwick County represent widely varying examples of quiet pastoral villages to lively cosmopolitan municipalities.

S.C.A.C. Mission Statement
The Mission of the Sedgwick County Association of Cities, a coalition of municipal officials, is to seek to improve the quality of life in Sedgwick County through effective government. S.C.A.C. advocates for municipalities as the official voice of municipal government in Sedgwick County and promotes good government through education, training, and leadership.

Sedgwick County Association of Cities (SCAC) was formerly the Association for Legislative Action of Rural Mayors (ALARM). The name was changed on February 14, 2004.
